sunday sounds: murmur (meanwhile)
following on from last week's treat from silent servant, something special again this sunday. this time it from the murmur boys. after falling in love with a mix they'd recently done i got in touch, and they had another one they'd also finished around the same time, and we thought it'd be good to present them together. 2 for the price of 1 this week... both mixes are bang on, excellent excursions into all things deep. they've got a great groove and feel to them, and well suited for a sunday...

these guys keep an intentionally low profile, but if you are around manchester they've recently started a monthly night, with big things planned for 2010. the next one is on december 29th with sean canty from demdike stare/finders keepers. i'm hoping to get up there and check it in the new year. label-wise, meanwhile has 12 inches on the way from pendle coven (do these guys ever sleep?), murmur and conforce, which also have a longplayer. plus they've got a new handstamped label going, 1XA, so keep an eye out for that.
big thanks to murmur for hooking up with these mixes. have a good sunday people...

thank you! just came home from groove city (james holden + sven vath + jefff mills ... luckily i had free tickets, otherwise it would have been a waste of money), so this is more than welcome! will download and then go to bed. thank you, once again. these sunday sounds are really becoming a fixed rendez-vous. see you soon chris ....
ReplyDeleteoy, i have not gotten around to listening to some of your sunday sounds picks lately. been obsessing over the giorgio gigli mix here (is there a tracklist for that?) as well as the wealth of cio d'or's mixes at her site, and basically any prologue-related mix i can get my hands on.
ReplyDeletebut keep up the good work! i'm particularly interested to see some 'best of 2009' discussion soon :-)
i just saw matthew dear perform his audion audio/visual show in chicago after catching it in barcelona and amsterdam over the summer. still lovely (he's one of my favorite producers) although 90 minutes was much too short, sigh...
@ Brian - if you have not mined this site for Cio gold, you should.

Totally agree with you on Prologue too.
These guys are nailing it right now.
yeah, the sunday series is becoming bigger than i first planned. but i am enjoying it.
ReplyDeletethese mixes are different from some of the more ambient stuff i've been posting and that is just fine. nice sounds for a sunday.
@ brian: on gigli, we never got a tracklist for it.
@ Srdic: don't you mean Cio "d'or" :) ?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mixes, I'm really into these Sunday Sounds and even more so with Murmur. Top quality deep music!
ReplyDeleteI'm also enjoying the first release on the 1XA label.
