  1. yeah, i've been passing that link around to all my friends, and everyone seems to have the same "holy shit this is amazing" consensus" about it.

  2. i should re-title this post 'listen to chris and eric'. very, very unexpected. this is on heavy repeat...

  3. I dunno about the unexpected bit. There is that famous mathematical equation: Speedy J + Mix = Yeah!!!

  4. you're right, this isn't what i was expecting at all. really nice mix, whatever it is in the opening 15 minutes is great.

and that koze remix is just amazing.

  6. I really need to stop skimming through the mixes for 5 seconds and deciding whether its worth listening. This is definitely worth listening.

    Now I'm scared I deleted a ton of mixes I would've liked :(

  7. @ Danny: you do raise an important point there though – how is *anyone* supposed to keep on top of all those files?

My iTunes is downloading (as I speak) several 'casts... even if I listened all day, every day, I wouldn't be able to get through 'em all...

..it's a pretty nice problem to have, but you have to wonder what the long-term side effects of all this casting might be...

eg: how many mixes do you give one rub to, mixes that, if they were a mix CD you bought in '01, you would have kept on your discman for weeks (speaking from personal experience)?

...nonetheless, certain 'casts really, really stand out: Prosumer's Beats in Space from last year, Steffi's RA cast, and (if I may say) recent SSG casts have all been on high, high rotation.

  8. Wow, cosmic, slow-mo, acid, gamelan... but 'cos speedy, the common denominator = intensity.

...would it be possible for Speedy J to make music that was not intense?

  9. Speaking of recent p-casts, I've been caning Steffi's recent Mixmag.info mix. Lovely track selection, nice flow.

  10. That Steffi set is also amazing: she has the best intuitive touch of any DJ I've heard working at the moment, both track-to-track and in working out the totality of the set. She 'knows'. It's something beyond craft I think... some DJs just really have it... and some lose it... and some might be getting it (recent Move D sets have become much, much tighter).

...then there are others who are still sloppy after all these years. Juan Atkins... great track selection, but when's he gonna learn to mix?

DJ Pete, too, from what I've *shhh* heard..

But mea culpa on this count too, as another DJ Pete.

  12. Like this, but can't say I'm that arsed to be honest.

I'd like it a bit heavier on the bass and a bit more varied.

  13. @PC, it's one of the reason this and other blogs alike 'work.' These blogs act as a filter.

  14. Not that pushed on this mix, was waiting for it to get pitched up but it never happened. Why do you think he played like this?

    ReplyDelete
  15. i like it precisely because it is not pitched up. slow, trippy, burning - i love sounds like this. real late afterhours shit, not many people play like this...

my guess is that issakidis is the dominant voice on this mix. the sound fits a bit more closely to what he does than speedy's.

  16. Thanks for the insight

  17. Absoutely beautiful - thank you for spotlighting this & not mincing any words.

I was about to skip it because I thought I knew what it would sound like, but this is one of my favorite things of the year.

  18. FUCK I LOVE THE LAST 11 MINS!!!!!

I mean, I love the whole thing, but seriously I love the last 11 minutes or so.

  19. next level, an epic mix, and if you "like it a bit heavier on the bass and a bit more varied" you can adjust your sub settings and re-evaluate your chosen music genre

  20. i was about to delete it cause i thought it was a boring speedy mix. but i gave it a chance since its speedy after all :)

and gosh, it is an amazing mix, love it!

  21. WOW! What trippy, sci-fi, K-hole did this tasty mix crawl out of?! Goodness. Wholly unexpected (as you warned...), and wholly mind-melting. Thanks for the link! ssgs forever!!!

  22. This will be on the download when I get home from work. I still cane the shit out of Collabs 400. When these two come together it is usually special so can't wait to have a listen. Thanks for the heads up ;)
