back on beat

ok, back to the beat. normally i find myself cycling through sets at a very quick rate. it seems like most barely keep my attention for more than a week or so... recently, there have been a couple that have been on repeat. first, is the guido schneider set i posted earlier. if you didn't take my advice and grab it then, do so now. second, the DBX livepa and discussion got me in the more for some more bell, so i tracked down this oldie. and it is simply superb.

and i know i post quite a few move d sets - and this one has been doing the rounds - but seriously, if you haven't heard this recording from his doing his sunday best in NY, do so. now. this is really sublime dj'ing. have been listening to this daily. life is a bit rough these days and D has been helping me through some really long days.

keeping on the house tip, here is something from the dutchies - jacking house with a great feel to it: boris werner & lauhaus @ club 11, amsterdam 2008

i am sure there was another set or two i meant to post, but can't remember them now, so that'll do. been listening to quite a few mix cds and albums, will report on them soon if the chance presents itself. enjoy the sounds.

  1. Chris is totally on point (as usual)...esp. w/ the Move D. This is similar to a Sven Wieseman set that was doing the rounds a few months ago, but this one... wow, it's just so good. Really unfussed, effortless, but still with careful selections. Good choice upon good choice, and all adding up to something more than the sum of its parts.

  3. side note: that was allegedly the first time that move had ever used serato!

  4. 1st time using serato?! well maybe that could explain it. i've listened to a lot of D's sets that he has made available through the website joe kindly listed, but i think this is the best of the bunch. none have felt quite as complete and coherent as this. it is just not stop brilliance...

and thanks for reminding me about that wieseman set. i'd forgotten about it. just put it on now. i might re-up it for the peeps that missed it.

  5. Yeah, the Wieseman one isn't a great recording, and there are some big flammy mixes, but the track selection is really, really good. Lots of old Detroit classics, deep house and other goodies.

NB – D is using Serato? This is interesting, thanks for the tip off.

  10. can anyone ID the two tracks that segue into each other the around 11minutes in the guido schneider set? one has vocals "obviously love, obviously gone, obviously heaven is above, i pretend there is something going on to me..."; the other gets its low end cranked in.

  13. The Move D mix is a masterpiece, this is very elegantly done whithout at no time "in your face" mixing to let the tracs speaks for themselves.
