A lot of Julliard/conservatory/Serious Music trained musos are too schooled to be able to make music, or turn out technically outstanding but creatively blank 'pieces'. But KP is the real deal.<BR/><BR/>As far as the B-52s go: it's like when any of those stellar groups gets back together. Initial excitement gives way to trepidation, especially when they're recording fresh material. When music has meant so much to so many people, legacy, impact, interpretation - it's often as 'beyond you' as coming up with something to equal of it. There are exceptions, but generally 'best leave well enough alone'.<BR/><BR/>I think of Kraftwerk, the Cure, the Pixies, the Breeders (any opinions on their newie?) et. al. The death of a lead singer is often more than the lender of an inexpensive and inexhaustible pathos; it's also puts the neat and final kybosh on any silly ideas about getting the band back together.
