out of the labyrinth

just back in tokyo after a couple of incredible days at labyrinth. completely exhausted due to lack of sleep and the intensity of the experience. full report to come later on when i gather my thoughts, then find some time and energy. for now all i'll say is that it somehow managed to be more special, more powerful, more beautiful, more intense and more inspirational than last year. i really am in shell shock at the moment. most aspects of the party were as close to perfect as you could hope for. the music was amazing, the sound system was out of this world, the mountain setting was just right, the weather was good etc... personal highlights (all 10/10 performances, but many other artists were pretty close to pefect too) were peter van hoesen delivering a livepa that was on a whole different level, function absolutely destroying the place as it went to dusk, and, of course, dozzy's closing set. all 7 hours of it... (and before you ask, no, it was not recorded).

thanks to everyone for a truly unbelievable couple of days. and most of all, respect to russ for realising his vision. see you next year.

As much as I want to hear that Dozzy set, I feel as if it will ruin the unique feeling everyone at the event felt. Kind of taking away that 'once in a lifetime' feeling.

Glad you had fun chris.

to set up an event that even exceeds the very very high expectations from the year before seems like a rare and grateful experience...

that indeed might prepare the ground for an ssgs meeting next year:-)

I just dont know what to say ... had to take day off today because my voice is fucked completely... guess 16 hours dancing pretty much with no rest at all (ansd thats just the last day) will do that to ya. crikey. and yes PVH once again proved he is THE force to be reckoned with, as all of the artists who heard him will attest to. the proper reviews will have to wait, just cant handle it right now

Labyrinth 2009 was by far the best party I have ever been to in my life.
A big big thank you to all the artists especially Peter Van Hoesen, Vince Watson, Function, Donato Dozzy and most of all Russ for making the last three days an experience that has totally exceeded my expectations/imagination...I simply cannot put it in words. I am still in awe....whoa..

if anyone has any peter van H sets or function sets to share that would be great. peter's aren't hard to find, but Functions are next to impossible..

be patient, and in the future you should be seeing something very special on mnml ssgs from mr function...

interesting......I had a reaslly good time but for me it wasnt as magical as the parties at Kawabama, so i hope steps will be taken to get the intimacy back.

I think the main area was too big and spread out for that party, so something was lost. The bulk of the food area should be at the back of the main floor to fill space and try make it more intimate. Also, why not just keep the music going full on, then switch to the smaller sound system? I felt the music wound down too early, once people had retired back to their tents in the evening they tended to stay there. Thought it would be better to keep the music going at a decent pace, switch to the smaller rig, finish that earlier and start the main floor a bit later in the morning forgetting the evening break.

Thats my 2 cents and i`m sure many will disagree with me on that.

My friend was there and I have just been treated to lots of photos. Seemed top good. I did laugh when I saw a photo of a lady sporting a "Headfuck Techno" t-shirt. Giving it a push!

@ oliver: that lady is my girlfriend. she was wearing a very limited edition mnml ssgs headfuck techno tshirt. we made 4: one for me, one for her, one for dozzy and one for russ (the organiser)...

> I had a really good time but for me it wasn’t as magical as the parties at Kawaba

There used to be a really nasty trance party that occurred every year same days as Labyrinth. Fortunately (and unfortunately for us), the organizer went out of business or went bankrupt or something so there was no nasty trance party this year, which meant a good chunk of the unworthy scum who’d normally go there came to Labyrinth instead. I just hope the ones that came this year won’t bring more back next year.
